History of Mayo College Museum Jaipur
Mayo College in Ajmer is a school and not a college. It is a prominent boarding school in India, founded in 1875 by Richard Bourke, 6th Earl of Mayo, Viceroy of India, from 1869 to 1872. The Viceroy built the school for the upper-class Indian children belonging to the royal and noble Rajputana families.
The College tower, surrounded by beautiful gardens and artworks, is known for its Indo-Saracenic architectural style. The Bangaldar Roof, Chhatris, and Octagonal Turrets on all four sides lend it a Rajputana touch.
